Army Band Spectacular
World-famous didgeridoo player booms with the Australian Army BandN

No sound is more iconically Australian than the hauntingly beautiful, yet stirring rhythms of an authentic didgeridoo, played by a master.

When that sound is combined with the bold, brassy tones and pounding drums of a military band, the effect is positively spine-tingling!

You can experience this first-hand when the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre hosts the Australian Army Band Gala Showcase featuring the world-renowned didgeridoo player, David Hudson.

Hudson's life reflects his love and belief in Aboriginal culture. He comes from the Ewamian people in Cairns and has travelled the world extensively, as a solo artist with Greek composer, Yanni, and dance troupe, Tjapukai, which he co-founded.

This isn't the first time David has collaborated with the Army Band. He said he is looking forward to performing with them again.

I've been involved with Anzac Commemorations, with the 100 year anniversary of the end of WW1, and travelled to Villers Bretonneux in France, and to the site of the famous Battle of the Light Horse Brigade at Beersheba in Israel, during 2017-18. I was present with the Australian Army Band on those occasions, David said.

The Australian Army Band's mission is to enhance the public image of the army through community engagements, such as this event and to maintain the morale of troops deployed overseas, through entertainment. The band is also an integral part of military ceremonies, such as those mentioned above.

Music connects strongly with our emotions you only have to hear 'The Last Post' on bugle or a favourite song to start smiling. This show promises to take you on a musical journey, as a variety of familiar tunes are played with style.

The Army Band, David Hudson and some special guests will offer a unique mix of cultural and contemporary music in an event to remember. Dean Vegas will perform songs from Elvis Presley and Greg Andrewwill play some of Sir Elton John's greatest hits.
