Redcliffe Celebrates 15 Artists
From Saturday 2 September, a select group

of emerging artists will be taking Redcliffe by storm and presenting an incredible array of works at the Redcliffe Art Gallery.

'15 Artists' is an annual acquisitive and exhibition developed to enhance the Moreton Bay Regional Council Art Collection and Exhibition Program.

The exhibition showcases the work of Barbara Heath, Abbey McCulloch, Kate McKay, Stephen Nothling, Graeme Peebles, Ari Athans, Glenn Barkley, Sue Beyer, Megan Cope, Hannah Cutts, Nan Dingle, Jeremy Eden, Martin Edge, Ian Friend and Stephen Hart. Focusing on new works by the group of emerging, mid-career and established artists, Councillor for Division Six Koliana Winchester says the works highlight culture, identity, spirit and a sense of place.

This exhibition, which encompasses an acquisitive prize of $8,000, has been held at the Redcliffe Art Gallery since 2001 to create an exciting contemporary exhibition where the winning work will be added to the Moreton Bay Regional Council Art Collection, Cr Winchester said.

From extreme weather events to memories of growing up in the Moreton Bay Region, to experiences of travelling to Australia by boat as a refugee and exploring myths, each artwork is sure to captivate, mesmerise, fascinate and engage the audience.

The exhibition will follow the success of the Tyson Evans art scholarship, which showcased over 27 portfolios from the works of young artists in the region. Councillor for Division Five James Houghton says the Moreton Bay Region had a tremendous depth of talent that was evident when council held the Tyson Evans art scholarship and exhibition.

The Moreton Bay Regional Council Art Collection has grown significantly over the past nine years, through purchases, generous donations, and acquisition of works through awards such as 15 Artists,

says Cr Houghton.

There are over 300 works across diverse media including sculpture, video, and paintings that reflect the vision, diversity and character of the region. The exhibition will be on display at the Redcliffe Art Gallery between 2 September and 28 October, with the winner of the acquisitive prize to be announced on September 2.
