Unleashing Live Performance Just About ‘anywhere’

If you have always wanted to be a part of a flash mob, now is your chance! The streets of Redcliffe are set to come alive with the Anywhere Festival popping up in parks, community halls and urban spaces across Moreton Bay.

Running from 14 May to 5 June, this year’s program, which includes free and ticketed performances, has been designed to activate places and spaces right around the region and encourages locals and visitors to explore areas they might not have been to before.

Acting Mayor Jodie Shipway said the month-long event would bring life, joy and colour to the region after some very challenging times.

“These last few weeks after the devastating floods have been really hard on our community and getting out to watch some amazing performances is something we could all use right now.” Cr Shipway said.

She continues to say it is important that we come together in our communities to support our talented performing artists who’ve had a tough couple of years.

“Anywhere Festival is all about seeing live performances anywhere other than a traditional theatre venue, so people can revel in the buzz of live performances close to home and in a COVID-safe environment.” Cr Shipway said.

This year’s program is proudly showcasing talented local performers from Moreton Bay and beyond. Starting on May 14, the public can expect a two-day performance extravaganza with events popping up around Redcliffe, Scarborough and Woody Point before moving to the next location. Some of the main events include a flash mob in Bee Gees Way, ABBA k-roke with Moreton Bay Big Band and a Pooch Parade where people are encouraged to bring along their furry friends. 

Organisers of the festival are encouraging people of all ages to join in the fun, with the program providing opportunities for the public to take to the stage and be part of the festival. You can register to be a part of the singing or dancing flash mobs, or the performative Pooch Parade and more!

Anywhere Festival also has performances stretching from Redcliffe to Caboolture, Bribie Island, Morayfield, and beyond.
