Flour and Chocolate: A Winning Combination
Serving up on its sweet promise, long-awaited bakery and cafe Flour and Chocolate has opened in Redcliffe.

The prolific patisserie is the third in a series across Brisbane, baking a variety of breads, cakes and sweet and savoury treats fresh in-store.

Owner and pastry chef Lachlan Scott said the Redcliffe location was the culmination of many years of dedicated planning.

“We’ve been trying to get to Redcliffe for many years. Even though our opening was extended, we’re incredibly lucky and really happy to finally be open,” he said.

With humble origins as a small artisan patisserie in Morningside, the family business (run by Lachlan and his wife Kylie) has now grown into the stuff of sugar-spun dreams.

Lachlan said that each store was unique, with the new Redcliffe cafe offering people the chance to sit down and enjoy the beautiful ocean scenery.

“We’re baking smaller, more delicate items here that are perfect to enjoy with a coffee on the weekend, and that’s excellent because our team really enjoys making these kinds of creative items,” he said.

“Our team is just blown away with how well we’ve been received; everyone is just so warm and welcoming.”

Lachlan said people were trying out a good variety of baked treats, pastries, cakes and gourmet sandwiches to find their personal favourites, and had been travelling from both inside and outside the Moreton Bay area (COVID-19 restrictions permitting) to support the new store.

He said the Peninsula region was “a really great community, and “we just love this part of the world.”

Flour and Chocolate Redcliffe is currently open from Thursday to Sunday, but there are plans to extend trading hours on an incremental basis.

“It’s still early days in Redcliffe, but our team has been working very hard and we’re continuing to build on what we’re doing,” Lachlan said.

“Overall, it’s been an incredible experience and we’re proud of what we’ve created.”
