Local Artist Vies For Major Prize at 15 Artists Exhibition
Each year, 15 artists are invited by Moreton Bay Regional Council to take part in the highly esteemed 15 Artists Exhibition, with the winning artist awarded $15,000.  Recent works by Australian artists are showcased with a diversity of ideas expressed through a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture and mixed media. The winning work is acquired into Council's art collection for all to enjoy for many years.

This year, local artist Lynn Taylor, winner of the Redcliffe Art Society's Exhibition of Excellence for her portrait painting A Conversation, has been invited to participate. Lynn said this was a step up for her, and quite a challenge.

I felt nervous at first about being in the company of 'real artists',ť she said. Should I win the prize, I could then comfortably call myself a 'real artist' too.

Being a part of Redcliffe Art Society has raised my art knowledge and skills through their workshops and teaching. My fellow art colleagues readily share what they have learnt, and their support and encouragement continues to spur me on.ť

Lynn's painting was inspired by a photo of two renowned Australian artists ' Charles Blackman is showing a photograph to Margaret Olley. Lynn said the colours reminded her of a Rembrandt and she was intrigued by the idea of capturing the warmth and intimacy of that moment.

The other invited artists are James and Eleanor Avery, Sam Cranstoun, Jumaadi, Jennifer Herd, Naomi Hobson, Locust Jones, Leah King Smith, Shivanjani Lal, Jenna Lee, Sancintya Mohini Simpson, Claudia Nicholson, Jason Phu, Izabela Pluta, and Natasha Walsh.

James and Eleanor Avery are also from Moreton Bay Regional Council area and said they were very excited to have their work in the new art gallery.

We love to support the local gallery network and are thrilled to be part of this prestigious event,ť Eleanor said.

Don't miss your opportunity to enjoy this eclectic range of works from such talented artists, including one of Redcliffe's own.
