The Battle of Evil Within
Redcliffe Musical Theatre is presenting their own twisted rendition of Lord of the Flies from September 18 at THEATRE 102. Lord of the Flies is a classic novel created by William Golding, gruesomely showcasing the moral dilemmas of a group of stranded teenage boys in World War II that are forced to survive on their own without any adult guidance.

The Redcliffe Theatre Company's production of Lord of the Flies is being directed by Zachary Crisan ' his debut  -  and explores all the themes of the book as the boys' plight for survival turns wild and violent, showcasing the inner evil that humans can possess.

I've put a nice, dark twist to the show, and play around with some religious themes,¯ Zachary said. There's a lot of hidden messages in the show that revolve around religion.¯

The show has a cast of only 10 boys that started rehearsing in July and Zachary said they are very excited now the costumes and props are coming together and that they are ready to get on the stage to shine and wow the audience.

It is a book and play that so many have studied over the years and it's been great bringing it to life,¯ Zachary said. Expect to feel uncomfortable. You will feel like you are a part of the show and with the boys on the Island.¯

Redcliffe Musical Theatre president Madeleine Johns is looking forward to welcoming patrons to the out-there performance¯ and does not want anyone to miss out. She said they are complying with Theatre Queensland's Covid-safe plan which only allows 50 people in their audience at a time.

Unfortunately, we cannot have any walk-ins to the show,¯ Madeleine said. Everyone must pre-book online, so they are guaranteed a seat.¯
