Lifestyle On Water Festival
New festival celebrates the seaside scene. Redcliffe has a packed calendar of festivals and joining the line-up this April is the Lifestyle on Water Festival, which celebrates all things boating, music, food and lifestyle on the Peninsula.

It has been an exciting time in the lead up to the inaugural event, with organiser Carl Richards expecting visitors from all over the greater Brisbane area.

We believe patrons from the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and other areas will all be here looking for a new experience, sampling the food, relaxing with a wine or cold beer and taking in what Moreton Bay has to offer all in one festival, he says.

Our vision is that this should be a community event and although not far from Brisbane, Moreton Bay still has that local feeling.

From the outset, we engaged with local businesses, schools and community groups as we wanted to ensure that locals had the first opportunity to take part in the festival.

One of the standout themes of the festival will be the food, with a variety of celebrity chefs on hand to showcase their skills with local produce.

Over the weekend the main stage will feature cooking demonstrations by our celebrity chefs, who keep our main stage energised between musical acts, Carl says.

Celebrities like Sally Jenyns, who grew up spending 'her salty childhood-family weekends and holidays fishing and fossicking in the waters of Moreton Bay' are perfect for us to tie together boating, fishing, the Moreton Bay region and local produce.

My Kitchen Rules' Tony and Lynne, and Dave [from Rob and Dave on My Kitchen Rules] also bring the local flavour, while Channel 7's Paul Burt will show off his skills.

Our vision is to bring a totally different festival experience that patrons haven't had before.

Carl says he believes Redcliffe is developing into a foodie destination, but there is plenty more potential for locals.

We would love to look back in a few years time and see the festival has helped to expose local businesses and become a food hot spot where visitors can experience the scenic offerings and local produce, he says.

With an abundance of great produce, there's not too many places in the world I can think of that have marine life named after the region, the Moreton Bay Bug.

It is no surprise that the festival's signature dish celebrates the local marine life with its Bucket O Bugs and Bucket O Prawns.

This was a no-brainer on one of our many visits to Pelican Park to visualise the festival and looking out over Moreton Bay, we immediately thought how good would it be to sit here and have some Moreton Bay bugs and a cool beverage, Carl says.

So Festival goers can indulge while taking in the sounds and experience of the festival.

Redcliffe is blessed; it's the gateway to the beautiful Moreton Bay, with fantastic islands, unbelievable marine parks and laid-back locals that are proud of their region.

There is no better place in the world to live, fish, boat, listen to music and enjoy life.
