FIRE INTO THE NEW YEAR
The Foreshore Fireworks Committee is a small group of people with a big vision for their community.

This dedicated group of volunteers will not disappoint visitors when fireworks light up the sky at Woody Point this New Year's Eve.

This committee of five are determined to make the night memorable for everyone. We are just five people from the community putting on an event for the community,¯ Lisa Casablanca explains. So, make plans with family and friends to welcome in 2017 with a bang.

From the Woody Point Jetty to Apex Park, the display will light up the Redcliffe Peninsula. The show is one of the largest of its kind in the Moreton Bay region and will include a fireworks barge out on the water. We'd love to have two barges and hope to raise the funds to do this by way of sponsorship. The program is reliant on the support we receive from local businesses,¯ says Lisa.

The large numbers of people at last year's festivities, coupled with road closures, means the Committee will be providing shuttle buses from a number of locations to help ease traffic congestion. This year we'd like to encourage as many people as possible to make use of the shuttle buses,¯ Lisa says. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to have a relaxed and enjoyable experience.¯

There will also be plenty to do before the main event. Food trucks, market stalls, rides and family entertainment are just some elements to look forward to throughout the afternoon and evening. Luckily all the viewing options on offer for the Foreshore Fireworks are at parks and beaches along the beautiful Redcliffe shoreline. These parks all have playgrounds, toilets and BBQs so why not arrange for your family and friends to meet earlier so you can grab a prime viewing spot and spend the day together. The weather is usually great this time of year and perfect for a picnic in the park or fish and chips on the beach.

The Foreshore Fireworks Committee are still looking for volunteers to assist at the event and would love to hear from people willing to give their time. They would also welcome the sponsorship of any businesses that would like to support this community occasion and not-for-profit organisation.
