Saturday 10th September will see the launch party of an exciting new business venture unique to the local area. Aquaventures, a kids' scuba diving and marine education organisation, will be on display at Northlakes Aquatic Centre from 10am until 1pm.

Husband and wife team David and Melanie are the creators and owners of Aquaventures, both with a passion for diving and marine conservation. Melanie has been a dive instructor for over 10 years and divemaster for 8 years, first teaching children to dive when she was living in Egypt. This was a rewarding experience and she wanted to bring it home to Australia. David has completed his Assistant Instructor qualification and is an experienced underwater photographer. Scuba diving is a non-competitive sport that gives kids the opportunity to make friends, build self-esteem and nourish a sense of adventure and travel, says David.

Melanie and David observed that not all mainstream dive schools cater for kids' scuba diving and so decided to tackle this gap in the market. Therefore, the primary focus of Aquaventures is to give kids an introduction to scuba diving while maintaining a strong focus on marine conservation and education. We want to raise awareness about the ocean and risks that face it and hope to get kids passionate about protecting it, David explains.

Aquaventures offer a variety of experiences for children who want to try scuba diving in the safe, controlled environment of a swimming pool. Some of these include a variety of dive experiences appropriate for specific levels, scuba birthday parties, school group programs, and school holiday camps. You can find out more about these at the launch.

Melanie and David would love to see you at the launch party. They will be running Bubblemaker Try Dive experiences for children 8 years and over, however, places are limited so you will need to book. There will also be show bags for the first 25 children who visit on the day, prize giveaways and free cake.
