Bringing Light To The Longest Night

Bringing Light to the Longest Night
Fri 14 Jun
Time : 4pm - 10pm
Where : Picnic Hill
Address : Corner Oxley Ave & Anzac Ave, Redcliffe
Tribe and Picnic Hill is inviting locals to “The Longest Night” – a mid-winter bonfire with bands, food trucks and entertainment, to be held on Friday 14 June, in the lead up to the Winter Solstice.

Ryan Elson, founder of the non-profit community group, Tribe Social Belonging’, said this event was to recognise and reduce loneliness and isolation in our community.

“Winter Solstice (22 June) is the shortest day of the year, bringing with it the longest night. For lonely people, the nights are the hardest so we have chosen to light up the longest night by creating a warm, safe and comfortable way for people to connect with community,” Ryan said.

“The bonfire is a beacon for all those feeling isolated or that don’t feel comfortable in social situations. People can find it hard to go out so we make it as easy as possible by having Tribe people there to welcome them.

“Picnic Hill...welcomed [the bonfire idea] as an addition to their usual activities.”

Don’t let this be The Longest Night for you or anyone else. Come and be part of this family-friendly event. Entry is by gold coin donation.
