Sandy Claus Is Coming To The Peninsula

Sun 09 Dec
Time : 3pm - 8pm
Where : Scarborough Beach Park
Address : Scarborough
It’s the most wonderful time of the year says the popular Christmas song, and the people of Redcliffe Peninsula will be in perfect Christmas harmony again at the annual Scarborough Christmas Carols, at Scarborough Beach Park.

The CEO of Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism Shane Newcombe says the Scarborough Christmas Carols have been bringing Christmas joy to the Redcliffe community for many years.

“Scarborough Christmas carols are returning for a jam-packed evening, kicking off at 3pm on Sunday, 9 December with free entertainment, plenty of Christmas fun and the very popular fireworks finale,” he says.

“The 2018 entertainment program will feature more Christmas carols than ever before; guaranteed to get everyone into the festive spirit.”

Newcombe says keen Christmas carolers can expect a family-friendly event with something for people of all ages - especially the littlies who are keen to meet a certain special bloke in a red suit.

“Scarborough Christmas Carols will be an event for families with carols live on stage from 3pm onwards,” he says.

“There will also be Sesame Lane Santa’s Village, where the little ones can meet Santa and get hands-on with Christmas activities and workshops, plus rides, twilight markets and more - all before a fireworks finale at 7.45pm.

“Scarborough Christmas Carols is the perfect opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the festive season,” says Shane.

The Inversion Vocal Group will be performing at the event and musical director Tracy Lundberg says community carols events are always a great night, and that people enjoy celebrating the joy of Christmas with others in their local area.

“Whether it’s showcasing local groups, upcoming talent or enjoying professional performers, there’s something to keep everyone entertained,” she says.

“We will be presenting a thirty-minute set of beloved traditional carols and swinging Christmas hits, including a couple of amazing arrangements by superstar US a cappella group, Pentatonix.”

Leo Altarelli will also grace the stage at the carols’ event, performing his favourite festive songs, as a one-man-band, complete with trumpet, guitar, voice and percussion.
“The crowd should prepare to be entertained and also get ready for a great sing-along,” he says. “It is a wonderful way to get into the festive spirit and support local artists and businesses.”
