Moreton Bay Says No To Violence

Story: Jodie Woodward
Oct 25, 2019
Everyone is invited to stand up, speak out and act, to say no to violence in Moreton Bay by joining in the annual White Ribbon Day March this month.

Encircle has coordinated the event for the past 12 years and this year is aiming to have 1000 participants join the march.

An Encircle spokesperson said a highlight of the event was the public oath taking, which will occur after the march.

“It demonstrates everyone’s commitment to the pledge to stop violence against women and children,” she said.

Participants are asked to wear a white shirt and can purchase a ‘Moreton Bay Says No to Violence’ advocacy cap for $5. After the parade and oath taking, refreshments will be provided.

“We understand that domestic and family violence is a sensitive topic and attending the event on the day may raise some sensitive feelings. We want all participants to know that if this does occur, we will have counsellors in attendance on the day.”

This is a free event open to the whole community. Attendees are encouraged to register their interest via – search for ‘Redcliffe White Ribbon Day Event’.
