You Never Know Until You ‘try’

Story: Donna Roberts

2019 is shaping up to be a big year for Patrik Williams and his band. After the successful launch of his new single ‘Try’, at the Milk Factory in West End in April, he has moved to an upcoming spot on stage at the Ekka in August.

Patrik has been surrounded by music since he was a small child.

“I guess you could say it’s always been in my blood, ever since I was a child I was singing in school choirs and playing instruments such as the piano and drums,” said Patrik.

“I have been writing music for a number of years now and have fallen in love with crafting songs for the soul and the heart.”

Alongside Redcliffe locals, Lachlan Pilgrim, on guitar and Cale Tanner on bass, and with Nathan Baxter playing the drums, Patrik is ready to move to the next level in his music career.

“These guys push me to be the best musician I can be, and they help bring the music to life,” Patrik said.

Hopefully, the Redcliffe connection means residents will be treated to some local shows in the near future.

“We are planning to do several shows in the area. Despite not having a huge music scene, the [Redcliffe] culture itself is very inspiring for young artists such as ourselves.”

Describing their music as ‘alternative folk with hints of rock’, Patrik and his talented band are mostly influenced by Australian artist and guitar prodigy, Daniel Champagne, and the rock band American Football.

Future plans for Patrik and his band revolve around securing more gigs, and hopefully gaining some national and international recognition.

“We plan on continuing our regular gig stream to gain a following in the local music scene, and eventually leading to big and better shows,” said Patrik.

“We want to play at music festivals and open for international acts down the line. These are hefty goals, but it’s best to dream big.”
