KYLE ‘ON CUE’ TO FULFIL LIFELONG DREAM
Most of us have watched or played eight ball pool with friends for recreation, at some stage. For one local young man, Kyle Thomson, his passion for the game has taken him to the peak of the sport.

Earlier this year, 17-year-old Kyle, who is a member of Norths Cue Sports, competed at the National Eight Ball Titles. He played with such resilience and composure at this event to that he finished up as the runner-up.

A bigger moment for Kyle was still to come. Following the national titles, Kyle was selected for the Australian team to travel to England, for the World Eight Ball Titles to be held this month.

Kyle said that being selected to represent Australia was the pinnacle of the game for a junior player.

“I have tried for this spot for the past three years as it is an under 18 event, missing out on two previous occasions by one frame,” he said.

Kyle said he would put 110 percent into bringing the World Eight Ball Title back to Australia with him.

Tony Hodges, President of Norths Cue Sports, said it was an extremely exciting time for everyone at the club, watching Kyle fulfil his lifelong dream.

“This has been a dream of Kyle’s, to represent Australia since he started playing pool at the age of seven,” Tony said.

Kyle plays A grade fixtures on Tuesday nights and Social fixtures on Friday nights, at his club, Norths Cue Sports. The club is based at Bramble Bay Bowls Club in Woody Point, where they have 15 tables and more than 200 members of all ages.

“I have watched Kyle grow over the past 11 years at our club into a well-mannered, humble young man who has always taken the time to help out other players with their game,” Tony said.

Kyle will fly to England on 15 June with cue in hand. If you wish to leave Kyle a message of support or want to learn more about the club go to the Norths Cue Sports Facebook page or email northscuesports@bigpond.com
