Do you enjoy singing, but don't want to attend regular choir practice? The Chunky Harmonies Choir might be for you. Each month there is a Singalong Jam at the Castaway Koala Café in Scarborough (formerly Alice Island Café), and it's open to everyone.
Organised by Elizabeth Savina, speech pathologist and choir leader, said the group was perfect for people who enjoy singing, but without the pressure.
Singing with others is so much easier than doing it alone,ť Elizabeth said.
Research has shown several physical and emotional health benefits are gained from group singing and music making.ť
Elizabeth started up the monthly Singalong Jam, with Brian Lee Watson and Stephen Connor, to provide an opportunity for people to sing the songs they love.
Songs from the 1960s are most popular with the range including rock, singer-songwriters and folk. If you play guitar, ukulele or woodwind instrument bring them along and join in.
This is a free event held monthly at the Castaway Koala Café. A gold coin donation is appreciated to go to a chosen charity. For more information go to
