Redcliffe Jetty Markets Punch Above Their Weight
Redcliffe Jetty Markets are punching above their weight when compared to bigger markets, according to Councillor for Division 5, James Houghton.

Cr Houghton said the markets are a key contributor to tourism, community vibrancy and business growth.

“The Redcliffe Jetty Markets have enjoyed a boom in popularity in recent years, rivalling other big-name markets across South East Queensland,” Cr Houghton said.

“City slickers are trekking out of Brisbane for a sea breeze and some sunshine – we’re even giving the old Eumundi Markets a run for their money.”

Cr Houghton said the markets also provided flow-on benefits to other businesses.

“Market patrons are doing more than picking up fresh fruit and veggies for the week at the Redcliffe Jetty Markets, they’re also grabbing a coffee at the local café and sitting down for a meal.

“Local spending is the bread and butter of this economy and we look forward to watching these markets go from strength to strength.”

Moreton Bay Regional Council recently opened a tender for the management of the markets, as part of its regular review process. The current operator, Markets and Event Management Australia (MEMA), was granted the contract in 2013, with a three-year extension granted in 2016.
