Fun School Holiday Workshop
By January, a lot of parents are hearing I'm bored¯ from the kids.

What can you do when the excitement of Christmas is over and children are spending too much time on electronic devices and not enough time being more active and social, particularly if you have to work?

The Alice in Wonderland Junior January School Holiday Workshop Extravaganza is a great alternative to vacation care or having bored kids at home, says Melissa Mataic of RED Music and Performing Arts.

The kids make lots of new friends and really work together to have the performance ready in six days. It's the ultimate team sport, but it's drama, dancing, singing, music and all the tasks like making props and costumes.¯

Everything is taken care of ' hair, costumes, make-up and props. It's super stress-free for families, the children gain a lot of confidence and communication skills and it's really great value,¯ explains Melissa.

It's a very inclusive program, where kids can do as much or as little in regards to actually performing as they like. They are given every opportunity but not forced to do anything. The emphasis is on fun, friendship and creativity.¯

For the six days, from Monday 7 January to Saturday 12, children aged from seven to sixteen years are immersed in every aspect of putting on a show. On the final day, they participate in two full performances for family and friends. A professional photographer is also at the show so that parents don't have to watch their kids through the tiny lens of their phone.

For only $49 a day, experienced and nurturing teachers inspire the children and ensure non-stop fun and learning from 9am to 4pm daily. An extra boon to working parents is the availability of extended hours of care from 8.30am to 5pm at no extra cost for those who book early.

Playing any part, at all, in 'Alice in Wonderland', whether it's a lead role, as supporting cast or backstage, will put a Cheshire Cat grin on the face of every child.

As Melissa says, Our workshops transform our cast - not just on stage - in their self-esteem, confidence and learning.¯
