Cafe 3Eightnine Eatery celebrates milestone year
It's been a year of delicious food, great coffee and picturesque waterfront views as Scarborough's Cafe 3Eightnine celebrates its first anniversary under new ownership.

Cafe owner and all rounder Ying Lu says the milestone is a great achievement for the establishment and is testament to an extensive background in hospitality.

I am originally from China and after completing my university studies there in 2008, I came to Australia to study cooking and hospitality,ť Ying says.

I started work in the restaurant and catering industry and have maintained a number of different roles including a three-year stint as a head chef, five years as a manager and then working within Sapphire Catering.

Barista work has also been a big interest of mine after completing a course in 2015.ť

Ying says they fell in love with the cafe at first sight over a year ago and the rest is history.

At that time we were trying to start a small business when our agent Mary sent this cafe's information to me,ť Ying says.

I made some time to drive up from South Brisbane to inspect the premises and the rest is history.ť

Ying says after a successful first year they are definitely looking ahead and have big plans for the future.

We are going to open a second cafe in Woody Point - we love the view there and it will be another new beginning for us,ť Ying says.

Another big plan we have is to open even more Cafe 3Eightnines in the future and bring the love and care we have for our food and coffee to more and more people.

We have had such wonderful feedback from the locals and tourists - this is a place for people who love good food, good coffee and are lovers of life.

We have truly enjoyed every moment of our time here.ť
