Classics on Show
American sports car royalty will take centre stage at Pelican Park this month.

More than $3 million worth of the US's most iconic sports cars will be on show at the Corvette Classic on Sunday, July 29.

The 19th annual event and one of Australia's biggest Corvette shows is organised by Corvettes Down Under Car Club, and club secretary Jan Earney says more than 80 corvettes will be on display.

The Corvette is America's favourite sports car and has the unique distinction of being the only car in continuous production for 65 years so people always come to any event where they can view these spectacular vehicles,'' Jan says.

There will be a wide range of Corvettes displayed for judging, ranging from models dating from the 1950s (C1 series) to the most modern 2017 model (C7 series).

Some Vettes are in the original condition, and others have been modified to suit the owner's tastes,'' she says.

It is a special day out for the whole family, as passionate Corvette owners share their love of cars with the next generation.

Corvette owners always tell stories about how they first saw one as a child and they couldn't wait to own one.  We hope to inspire a new generation of Corvette enthusiasts this year.''

Jan says Corvettes are a unique vehicle that retains a special place in the hearts of motor enthusiasts.

Not everyone is aware that the Corvettes of today are ranked the best bang for your buck sports car in the world.

They have been compared to Ferraris, Lamborghinis and high-end Porches for performance but sell at a third of the price.''

The Corvette Classic will include food and drink vans, trade stalls, entertainment for the children, pace cars and one-off Corvettes to view, die-cast models and car products for sale.
