Birthday Tunes And Grooves To Ring Out Across Scarborough

Birthday tunes and grooves to ring out across Scarborough

As the unforgettable Beatles once sang, They say it's your birthday! And so it is with the group that brings all the right tunes to the Peninsula, Scarborough Originals, which will celebrate its first year of existence with a cracking line-up of music and entertainment.

Scarborough Originals organiser Kimberly Ferguson says they are excited to be celebrating the one-year milestone, particularly as it is a community-funded event.

It provides a space for the community to get together to eat, drink, listen to music and connect in a way that is rare to find in this technological day and age, she says.

Scarborough Originals provides a platform for musicians, both local, touring and even international, to perform within the Redcliffe Peninsula in a safe, happy zone with great vibes.

Families, friends, groups, and the like are able to connect and enjoy an afternoon in the sun, at the beach with original music. What isn't good about that?

Kimberley says that although the endeavour has been successful, its continuation depends on more financial support from local businesses.

For us to continue running these events we need local businesses who can support and grow with the event, she says.

We hope to continue to build the event and see more and more people coming out and supporting us the more people we can get along to support original music, the more we can grow the event.

And grow they will, with acts such as Brisbane quintet Kayso Grande, who will take to the Scarborough stage on April 7.

Musician James Pryce-Davies says Kayso Grande will satisfy Scarborough's hunger for great vibes with a double dose of the finest new funk, soul and rock Brisvegas has to offer.

We took our love of bands like the Black Keys, Funkadelic and Frank Zappa, put them in the backseat of a [Holden] Sandman and put the pedal all the way down first stop: funktown, he says.

We will do what we do best, play our own brand of blues-infused rock & roll and star shaking soul the likes of which will make people want to holler, shout and have the kind of fun your mother warned you about.

If the good people of Scarborough even dream of missing us, they better wake up and apologise to their friends, but mainly to themselves.
