Australia Day - Celebrate Our Great Southern Land
Attention all southern sons and daughters - Australia Day on the Peninsula is set to be a day to remember when the celebrations hit Suttons Beach on Friday, January 26.

There's a huge range of activities and entertainment on offer including a main stage of live music, free beach cricket, beach volleyball, competitions, garden games, peddle and paddle boards, the famous annual lamington eating competition, and a spectacular fireworks display.

Music will take centre stage on the day, led by popular musical act Jazzie Smith, a Byron Bay local who will light up Australia Day with his unique blend of blues and folk.

Smith is looking forward to sharing the day with the Redcliffe community and entertaining the crowd with his unique one-man-band act, in which he plays up to six instruments at once including the guitar, harmonica and percussion.

I am really looking forward to performing again at Redcliffe's Australia day event, he says.

The location is truly beautiful and the crowds are fantastic to play to ' it is always a great atmosphere.

I have played in Redcliffe many times at the jetty markets and I love the location and the people.

Although Smith has performed everywhere from the Byron Bay Blues Festival to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, he loves kicking back with his groovy tunes on the Peninsula.

Playing music at a beautiful ocean setting with children running around and everyone enjoying the sunshine is what I love about Redcliffe's Suttons Beach, he says.

I love celebrating the day in a stunning location that represents how lucky we are to live in this beautiful country.

MBRIT chief executive Shane Newcombe says Australia Day is a great day to bring the community together.

It's the perfect opportunity for locals to get together, have a bit of fun, and maybe make a few more friends along the way, he says.

Locals and visitors alike will have a great, relaxing time at this family-friendly event and as always, the fireworks will be something very special - each year we try to go one step bigger and 2018 is no different.
