MORETON BAY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA Christmas Concert
Moreton Bay Symphony Orchestra (MBSO) is holding its annual Christmas Concert showcasing a mix of traditional and modern Christmas songs.

The Grace Chapel at Grace Lutheran College will come alive during a two hour concert that will host a range of musical talent from all over the local area.

Playing on the night will be the MBSO and its Youth Symphony, Junior Strings, and Jazz Band, with Bronwyn Gibbs as the conductor.  Songs will be sung by the JAFA Community Choir and vocalist, Julie McCoy, who will lead the sing-along carols as well as sing a couple of pieces with the orchestra.

There will be a range of orchestral arrangements of traditional and modern Christmas works and some pieces especially arranged by Jenni Lake, Musical Director of JAFA Choir.

President of MBSO, and first violin on the night, Eve Brown says, There will be a full symphony orchestra and jazz band playing the music written for this joyous occasion.

"Whilst this Christmas Concert is one of our five main concerts of the year, I urge people to come along and share this very special time with us.ť

With the MBSO orchestra being around in various forms over the last 40 years, and made up of people from all walks of life, it has established a reputation for delivering quality music in the Moreton Bay region.

Committed to nurturing young talent and collaborating with local professional musicians and other community orchestras, MBSO's Christmas Concert promises to be a wonderful night that whole families can enjoy.  Last year's concert drew a crowd of almost 400 people, whom Ms Brown says were an enthusiastic and supportive audience.

There was a great atmosphere last year it was a lovely, wholesome family event.ť

Monies raised on the night will go towards running the orchestra, which is a self-funded, not-for-profit, incorporated association funding its own operational costs through concerts like these.

We would also like to acknowledge Councillor James Houghton, who has provided MBSO with a grant of $500 towards staging this concert which has allowed us to keep the ticket prices lower than normal,ť Ms Brown adds.

n Saturday, 2nd December, Grace Chapel, Grace Lutheran College, Anzac Avenue, Rothwell at 6.30pm.

All tickets are $10, which are available at the door, with primary students and younger children free.  Supper will be available on the night.
