2024 is the Bi-Centenary year of the establishment of Redcliffe. On September 14, 1824, Lt Henry Miller landed at what is now Redcliffe, from the brig Amity with over 20 troops from the His Britannic Majesty’s 40th Foot Regiment, their families and 29 convicts, thus not only establishing Queensland’s first European settlement, but its first penal settlement as well.

In 2013, the iconic ‘Wall of Fame’ was established in the Jetty Arcade, located in Redcliffe’s CBD. This wall serves as a tribute to the residents and groups who have made a positive impact on our community, whether through their reputation or actions. The categories represented include Sports, Business, the Arts, and many more.

Currently, there are over 110 names on the ‘Wall of Fame,’ but we believe there are many more deserving individuals who have yet to be recognized.

We urge all members of our community to examine the current list and consider if there are any names that should be added.Application forms for new name submissions can be obtained from the office of Dennis Austen Commercial in the Jetty Arcade. A community judging panel will assess all applications, and their decisions will be final. The deadline for new name applications is April 30th, 2024.

To celebrate the Bi-Centennial Foundation year and honor those who have contributed to the Redcliffe community over the past 200 years, we propose presenting each ‘Wall of Famer’ with a Certificate of Fame. For those who have passed away, their nearest relative will be invited to accept the award. Historic figures will have their certificates safely stored by Jetty management.

We envision this special event taking place in or near the Jetty Arcade, with the Queensland Premier presenting the certificates on Saturday, September 14, 2024, or a day nearest to it.

Let’s come together and pay tribute to the individuals and groups who have shaped our community into what it is today. Help us make the 2024 Bi-Centennial Foundation year of Redcliffe a celebration to remember!
