Redcliffe Art Society Exhibition Of Excellence Winner Announced
The annual Redcliffe Art Society Exhibition of Excellence is a calendar favourite competition which brings together the best works by society members from the past year. It is a highly regarded competition, as not only are the displayed works chosen from so many entries, but the overall first prize winner is invited to participate in the prestigious 15 Artists Exhibition.

Vice President of Redcliffe Art Society, Deb Darke, said it is a source of inspiration and encouragement to have your work selected from such a large pool of entries for inclusion in the RAS Exhibition of Excellence.

“It is an honour having your work seen in a regional gallery as part of an exhibition which has such a long history from the first in 1957, and has played such an important role in fostering local art.

“Local art is an important part of local culture and identity, and the RAS Exhibition of Excellence is a wonderful opportunity for local artists,” Deb said.

There are three major prizes: First Prize Overall, Second Prize Overall and Third Prize Overall as well as some special awards, including Mayor’s Choice Award and People’s Choice Award.  Prizes are also given for first and second place in each of six categories: landscape/streetscape, waterscape, figure/portrait, still life, flora/fauna and abstract/contemporary.

Congratulations to First Prize Overall winner Elizabeth Duguid for her painting Dusk @ Bribie Passagge. Elizabeth will now have the great honour of exhibiting in the 15 Artists Exhibition - an annual invitation-only acquisitive exhibition run by MBRC at the Redcliffe Art Gallery.

Many well-known artists currently enter the exhibition or have won in the past including Margaret Olley who won the first prize twice and considered it an important competition.

Deb Darke emphasised that the exhibition makes art accessible to the community.

“This exhibition highlights the talent and diversity of local artists, and most artworks are available for purchase.  The exhibition is very popular, and people of all ages enjoy choosing their favourite painting for the People’s Choice Award,” Deb said.

Feast your eyes on this amazing array of work on display for this month only.
