Marvellous Musicals: Redcliffe Floral And Art Festival
The Redcliffe Floral and Art Festival is back, and this year is set to get your toes tapping and your vocal cords moving.

Held over three days, the festival has something for everyone including floral installations, live music, gardening tips, plant stalls and raffles. Instigated by local watercolour artist Liz Peters the festival was created to foster a space where art and flowers can unite to create the ultimate sensory experience.

“Redcliffe Floral and Art Festival is a free community event, born from a marriage of art and flowers which had not been done on the Peninsula,” Liz said. “This is the fifth year it has been held and is getting bigger each year with more gardening advice, entertainment and Devonshire teas.”

The theme this year is ‘Marvellous Musicals’, so you can expect to hear songs from iconic stage productions including My Fair Lady, Singing in the Rain and Cats.

Visitors will also be treated to the sounds of Phantom of the Opera played on the organ, a Sound of Music themed craft table where you can make a few of your ‘favourite things’, and a Mary Poppins and Happy Feet snow scene complete with penguins.

Liz said the festival needed to be held somewhere that could be transformed into an art exhibition space to accommodate large floral installations.

“The festival is based on larger and more dynamic floral installations, rather than smaller arrangements to put on your table.” Liz said.

The festival includes a gallery with over 70 paintings on display and stalls set up where you can buy artwork, plants, jewellery and gift cards. Local radio station Bridge 99.7FM will also include daily broadcasts.

Over the three days, local musicians will be showcasing their talent with performances from Bits and Pieces Band, The Duelling Pianos, Redcliffe City Choir, and this year’s special guest who will treat visitors to music from the Chinese instrument, the Zeng Ho.
