First Female Team Gets The Ball Rolling
The Redcliffe Dolphins under 19s female team have finished their first season and team captain Kaieisha Afoa believes the future looks bright for next year’s squad.

While the team didn’t win any of their three games in the QRL Harvey Norman women’s under 19s competition this year, Kaieisha, 18, said the season still went well.

“Our scores in the games and position on the ladder most probably reflected those tough moments we experienced as a collective, but nonetheless, as the captain, I always wanted to put my best foot forward for the girls and ensure we never gave up as a team,” Kaieisha said.

She said she had high hopes for next season’s group of under 19s women who will play for the Redcliffe Dolphins.

“This is just the beginning for women’s rugby league at this well-developed club,” she said.

“I believe that when the expression of interest form comes out for the 2023 season, plenty of young, talented girls will be jumping on board to play this competition, as well as those who have had a feel for it this year.”

Kaieisha will continue playing at Moreton Daily Stadium in June, after being selected for the QRL Female Under 19 Ruby’s National Squad.
