Fun for Families at Church Christmas Markets
Christmas carols, mouth-watering food, homemade gifts and everything the community loves about the festive season can be found at the Redcliffe Anglican Parish's Christmas markets.

The church is hosting the Family Christmas Twilight Markets from 3-7pm on Sunday, 5 December in the grounds of St Mary's Church.

Redcliffe Anglican Parish Ladies Guild committee member Janice Vidler said it was the first time they had done a Christmas market.

We have run plenty of garage sales, but with this one we are focusing on it being a children's Christmas outing, Janice said.

We would like to get as many children there as we can this time because we are doing things families will enjoy. There will be a Christmas tree and balloons and all the fun of Christmas, we hope.

It wouldn't be Christmas without Santa, so the man in the red suit will be making an appearance and having photos taken from 5pm. Kids can do their own shopping at a special stall where they can find presents for the family. There will also be plenty of activities including guessing games and raffles.

Those looking for treats and Christmas gifts will enjoy exploring stalls filled with cakes, jams and pickles, plants, coloured candles, and handmade items like cards, crafts and jewellery.

Money raised from the market will go towards the parish's restoration fund.

We have so many things that need doing. It's a beautiful old church, you just can't let it fall down. You've got to look after it, Janice said.

Once the shopping is done, market-goers can sample the delicious food on offer.

We will have fairy floss, ice cream sundaes, a sausage sizzle, and soft drinks and juices available because we would like people to stay and sing carols with us, Janice said.

We have a choir that are getting themselves organised to do three or four little breaks with different Christmas songs on each one. The carols will be ones that everybody knows and everyone will be welcome to join in.

We want everybody to come along and have fun with us. The more who are singing, the more fun it will be.
