Recent visitors to the popular Redcliffe Jetty will have noticed maintenance crews at work. Moreton Bay Regional Council is currently undertaking works on the jetty, including the rotunda and visitor information centre.

Division 6 Councillor Karl Winchester said the works would fix issues found during a routine inspection.

The works will ensure that the jetty can remain open and safe,ť Karl said.

Works include fixing and, in some instances, replacing parts of the jetty balustrading, posts and light poles, roof struts and battens. The information centre's awning at the jetty entrance will also be replaced.ť

Although the jetty will remain open to the public while maintenance is underway, some sections will be barricaded.

A temporary side access path is being constructed to allow the public to enter and access the jetty areas safely during these works,ť Karl said.

Karl said the Redcliffe Jetty was not only a Peninsula icon, but a vital asset for the community and tourism operators.

It's important that we maintain this asset and keep it in tip-top shape for visitors, businesses and the residents of the Moreton Bay Region.ť

The works started last month and are expected to be completed by the end of this month.
