Taste of Rome
If you have a taste for authentic Italian food, you'll be delighted to hear there's a fresh new restaurant in Clontarf.

Taste of Rome serves traditional home-made fare with a range of pizzas, pasta, pastries and gelato available to take away or enjoy on the premises.

As a family-run enterprise, owner/manager Arianna said the restaurant was born of a passion to bring people a taste of her family's favourite Roman recipes.

Our pizzas are very different; our dough is made in house with a traditional recipe and the toppings on our pizzas are always simple to ensure all of the flavours are well complemented, Arianna said.

The restaurant's motto is: Only the authentic Italian recipe means the authentic Italian taste.

All of our pasta sauces, gelato and pastries are made in-house with recipes from our great grandma's cookbook, Arianna said.

Before opening Taste of Rome, the family produced pizza bases that were distributed from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast under the brand name Roman Taberna.

Sharing a long-term dream to open their own shop, the family finally opened Taste of Rome in Clontarf.

We had been looking for a good location for a long time, Arianna said.

The restaurant has enjoyed a warm and enthusiastic response since opening, in part due to the quality ingredients used in cooking.

Everything we make has no preservatives and is all made with the best ingredients we can find ' many of which are the best Italian products we can get our hands on, Arianna said.

Taste of Rome will follow the Roman practice of offering unique dishes on rotation depending on the day of the week.

We want to start a tradition here so that our customers can taste something that cannot be made every day. For example, on Wednesdays the dish of the day will be spaghetti carbonara. It will be white lasagna with mushroom and zucchini on Sundays, Arianna said.
