Fun Run Ready To Set New Records
The popular Jetty2Jetty Fun Run is looking forward to another race day with registrations selling quickly. It's expected to be another sold-out event with a familiar vibe to previous years.

Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT) chairman Shane Newcombe said one difference for 2021 was that the event is officially certified.

This means that records can be broken for the distances of the race, he said. For the first time ever, we have also introduced an Elite Wheelchair Race for the 10km course. Not many races in Queensland offer this, so we are really excited to move towards a more inclusive culture.

Every year Jetty2Jetty partners with a local charity and this year, it's Peninsula Animal Aid ' a charity based in Clontarf that takes in dogs and cats to their shelter and foster care homes from in and around the Redcliffe Peninsula.

Many other key elements of race day will remain unchanged, such as the Rebel Healthy Living Expo.

The Rebel Warm Down Zone is also returning for 2021, Shane said. We weren't able to host it last year due to the restrictions, but we are excited to partner with Rebel and offer people space, equipment, and experts to ensure they warm down properly.

We have implemented a few more key elements to help keep spirits high, especially at the finish line, which we are excited to bring in for this year's race. I think we will see a lot of people set new PBs and potentially even a new course record which has been the word on the grapevine. Very excited to see the level of competitiveness at this year's Jetty2Jetty.

If you've been thinking about giving it go, why not make this year your time to do it?

Stop doubting yourself and just register, Shane said. Start with a short distance and embrace the enthusiasm you'll experience on race day. It's not about being the quickest out there, it's about having a go. From the moment you arrive at the race precinct you'll feel the support, enthusiasm and encouragement from all other participants.
