Cruise On The Bay Of Opportunities
The Redcliffe Peninsula Chamber of Commerce's event for June will focus on the future of the northern end of Moreton Bay, joining forces with the Moreton Maritime Alliance. Local businesses and stakeholders are invited on a cruise to learn more about development opportunities and plans for the area.

President of the Redcliffe Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and director of Moreton Maritime Alliance Brad Flynn said the idea behind the event was to reinvigorate the conversation about the opportunities for all stakeholders, and to create a focus on what needs to happen next.

We have been working with all stakeholders for approximately four years now and our biggest win to date is a State Government commitment of $400,000 for the creation of a master plan for Scarborough harbour," Brad said.

What we want to be doing with this event is making business and community in our region aware of the opportunities on and around the northern end of Moreton Bay. This includes the barge to Moreton Island, the Scarborough master plan, the Stockland development works at Newport, the North Harbour development and expansion, and the Great Sand Island Trek ' an early concept idea, which is a walk that traverses three of the four largest sand islands in the world.

During the four-hour cruise, representatives from each of the stakeholder companies will run presentations explaining their projects. It offers an opportunity to network with like-minded people, explore the opportunities, and for people and companies to identify synergies to explore. It's not all about the land surrounding the bay, though. The presentations will be interspersed with expert information about what's happening beneath the surface as well.

We will also have noted Marine Scientist and CEO of Australian Coastal and Marine Ecology Mat Davis providing commentary on some of the amazing, unique life under the surface as we head north from Redcliffe Jetty, around the coastline to Bribie Island and back again, Brad said.

Tickets are $95 and include a four-hour cruise, a complimentary beverage on arrival, and delicious lunch-style canapes and cheese boards during the afternoon (including Moreton Bay Bagels) provided by The Komo.
