JUMPING GOATS BAR

Celebrate the New Year at Jumping Goats with the “Happy Birthday Gregorian Calendar” party. Dress to showcase your favourite day, year or month – but perhaps avoid 2020. The only rule is – no birthday suits.

The party starts at 7pm and tickets will be $39. This includes a glass of champagne, food and live music by Steve McLoughlin, who will be rocking the best tunes from the 60s till now.

Jumping Goats will be extending its outdoor space – so have your dancing shoes ready.

Co-owner Peta Thames said her inner geek was excited to celebrate any aspect of any year, chosen by you. She recommends reusing a Halloween costume or to try dressing as a harvested grape in March. The options are endless.

“We can’t wait to give 2020 the boot,” Peta said. “It’s been such a tough year, but the absolute highlight has been the community support throughout all the chaos; support for us and support for each other. It’s going to be amazing seeing the end of 2020 and welcoming in 2021 with everyone.”

SUTTON’S BEACH PAVILION

You will be spoilt for choice with Suttons Beach Pavilion this New Year’s Eve with not one but two parties to see out 2020.

Downstairs, the Pavilion Bar & Kitchen is hosting a Beach Party. Don your Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and leis and get ready to dance your way into next year. This beach-inspired event will have a DJ playing all the best party hits, and the chefs will be serving beachy treats throughout the evening. It will also feature a photo booth, and drink and food packages available.

Upstairs, the Bathers Bar is hosting an Old School Funk & Soul night. Local DJs Sounds of Soul will play an all-vinyl set, presenting a night of soulful grooves and funk plus a glittery sprinkling of Studio 54 New York dance floor favourites.

Suttons Beach Pavilion co-owner Oliver Thompson said there was no better way to bring in the New Year than being at the beach with good friends.

“After a year of no dancing, this is just the ticket,” Oliver said. “So be quick, get your ticket while you can, as numbers are limited.”
