Magical Day Out For Kids
It’s been a tough year for kids – playgrounds closed and parties called off, while trying to connect with grandparents and teachers over Zoom.

But fun returns on 18 October with the Moreton Kids Festival at Pine Rivers Park.

Nick Britt, who performs as Nickleby The Magician, said he’s looking forward to bringing some magic back into children’s lives.

“Kids love superheroes, they love the idea of doing the impossible and magic is something that appears to be outside the realm of what’s possible,” he said.

“This is a whole new show for me, and the audience will be seeing a modern twist on some old favourites.”

Nick said he’ll be sawing someone in half, and one lucky member of the crowd will be made to fly.

“I don’t wear a hat, but there will be a rabbit,” he added.

“I’m very keen to get back out there and start performing again and I think people are keen to socialise and be entertained. There’s only so much Netflix you can watch.

“We all need a little bit of magic in our lives this year, kids especially.”

The festival, a COVID-safe event, will feature two shows with Peppa and George Pig, as well as rides, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities.

Moreton Bay Regional Mayor Peter Flannery said this year might look different to previous festivals, but it would not disappoint.

“Kids Fest is always one of the biggest events on the local calendar, but this year it takes on a whole new importance,” he said.

“We’ve all felt the impacts of coronavirus, especially our kids who’ve been having to learn to play inside or distanced from their friends.”

Festival goers are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets online, where they can fill in contact tracing details.
