Celebrate International Women's Day this March while making a positive difference to women.

Three local women have put together an International Women's Day (IWD) High Tea that not only has wonderful food and inspirational speakers, they have also partnered with Share the Dignity's #Itsinthebag campaign. Kirsty Fields (Social Ocean) said she and fellow Redcliffe business owners, Jody Allison (Crown Properties QLD) and Judith Newton (An Ethical Life), with support from The Belvedere Hotel had been working on the program for months.

''Share the Dignity will receive proceeds from the day, which is also a collection point for their #Itsinthebag campaign, Kirsty said.

We are focusing on the IWD 2020 theme #EachforEqual, which highlights women working in male dominated industries.

Our keynote speaker, Jennifer Wittwer, is an Australian Navy veteran described as one of the whistleblowers on the abuse of women in the defence force.

Jennifer Wittwer was the first ADF gender adviser to NATO operations in Afghanistan in 2013. Since then, Jennifer has been seconded to United Nations Women as a policy specialist on peacekeeping, sexual exploitation and abuse, and has recently returned from the Ukraine.

Women are not free when any woman is unfree" is a quote from Jennifer, which sets the tone for this celebration of women doing inspiring things in life and career and empowering others to do similar.

Share the Dignity helps women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and poverty through the distribution of toiletries and sanitary items.

The Belvedere is a collection point for Share the Dignity. You can visit Humanitix (website below) for details about what to donate (even if you can't make it to the event). Also, fees from ticket sales will help a girl receive education for a year.

This is an 18+ event, tickets are $70 and include delicious refreshments, moving speakers and a generous goodie bag.

Join the festivities with some remarkable women. To buy your tickets, go to www.humanitix.com/au/ and search 'Redcliffe'.
