HAVE A DIZZY DAY OUT
Look into my eyes things are set to get hypnotically hilarious when the Kidney Support Network Queensland hosts comedy hypnotist Dizzy on Sunday, July 30, at the QCWA Hall at Woody Point.

Hailing from Brisbane, Dizzy will present an entertaining show that bridges the gap between art, science and the human mind.

Kidney Support Network Queensland Treasurer and fundraising committee member Adriana Hewett says the afternoon is a great way to help out the organisation while having an enjoyable afternoon with the community.

The support group started on the Peninsula 10 years ago, and our local fundraising events in the past have allowed the Redcliffe and Northern Districts Support Group of KSN to purchase gel cushions, blanket warmers, DVD players and much more,ť she says.

We regularly hold events for patients at the Redcliffe Hospital Renal Unit and the North Lakes Renal Clinic, so this event is a great opportunity to continue that support.ť

The organisation is one close to Adriana's heart, with her daughter undergoing kidney dialysis for more than 14 years at Redcliffe Hospital.

I became involved with the organisation because of my daughter, so I have seen first-hand the effects of the condition,ť she says.

Patients sit in a chair hooked up to a machine for up to five hours a day, three days per week.

If they stop then they die, it is as simple as that. I like to think that we can make a difference to them.ť

Held at the QCWA Hall in Woody Point, the event will be a fun and affordable afternoon for the whole family.

Adriana says food and alcohol will be available on the day, as well as tea, coffee and other treats.

We will have lucky board numbers with cash prizes of $100 and $50, as well as raffles, games and lucky door prizes,ť she says.

There will be something there for everybody as 'Fun Fun Fun' is the theme for the afternoon.ť

The Kidney Support Network is also looking for community members to become involved as volunteers, with opportunities including visiting renal patients, attending Kidney Health Awareness events, fundraising, dialysis patient relaxation massage and op shop sales.
