Motor into the Corvette Classic
Rev up, roll up or stroll up whatever you choose don't miss your chance to hang out with a stack of sleek street machines when the 18th Annual Corvette Classic parks itself at Pelican Park, Clontarf on Sunday, July 30.

Crowds will be able to see up to 100 Corvettes on display on the day, from the earliest versions dating to the 1950s to the most modern 2016 model and they range from being in original condition right through to some incredible customised creations.

Corvette Classic organiser and club secretary Jan Earney says the event has gone from strength to strength.

This event is always one of the largest in Australia showcasing these American icons, she says.

In the past 18 years we have moved the site a couple of times, but the current location at Pelican Park overlooking the ocean has been perfect for us.

The Corvette is America's favourite sports car and has the unique distinction of being the only car in continuous production for 65 years so people always come to any event where they can view these spectacular vehicles.

The cars won't be the only stars at the Corvette Classic, and Jan says there will be plenty to keep families entertained and fed.

We have food and beverage vans, the local radio station 99.7FM will be broadcasting from the site, there will be a jumping castle and fairy floss for the kids, a C5 replica race car will be on display, plus there will be pace cars and unique Corvettes to view, she says.

There are also die-cast models, sponsor displays and car products for sale.

But Jan says nothing quite compares to getting up close and personal with the American classics.

Being able to get up close to the cars on display is a special experience for the children, she says.

Corvette owners always tell stories about how they first saw one as a child, and they couldn't wait to own one. We hope to inspire a new generation of Corvette enthusiasts this year.

They are displayed with the bonnets open, and this means that people can wander around and get a good look at the engineering. The owners are always available to chat to, and they love to show off their pride and joys.
