New Regular Music Event: Scarborough Originals

With a long history of hitting all the right notes, music event East Coast Originals will bring the popular concept to the Peninsula in the form Scarborough Originals ' and organisers say it's going to rock.
On the first Saturday of every month from April, Scarborough Beach Park will play host to four musical acts from solo artists through to bigger bands, all from different genres, running from 1-5pm.
Scarborough Originals organiser Kimberly Ferguson says the events have been hugely successful and bring the community together for an afternoon of top quality tunes and entertainment.
With the beautiful surrounds and setting at Scarborough it seemed like there was no better place to hold an outdoor original music event, she says.
There will be music of all genres, your great aunt will love it and so will your kids. Face painting will be available as well.
There will be a barbecue sizzling away while four acts take to the stage throughout the afternoon. Bring along the picnic rugs, your grandma and your favourite dancing shoes to have a fun afternoon listening to live original music.
Kimberly says that while the events are free, organisers rely on volunteers and businesses to step up and help make the shows run smoothly.
They are an outdoor, community-focused, family-friendly live music event and while the events are free, they are funded through the bringing together of a community mind, she says.
Raffle tickets are sold at each event through volunteers to help fund the event, with prizes donated by local businesses.
Business sponsors are also crucial at the event, providing cross-promotional marketing opportunities for traders.
The first public meeting drew in 30 people, Kimberly says, but organisers would still like to hear from volunteers keen to help out.
We have a handful of people who are going to help get this event off the ground but we need more people to jump on board to assist in the running of the events, she says.
Whether they can help for an hour setting up or packing down on the day or even if they can assist through services or sponsorship donations, everything helps.
