Clean Up Australia Day On The Peninsula
Join a dedicated team to clean up, fix up and conserve the Peninsula's natural beauty this month.

Sunday, March 5 celebrates the 27th national Clean Up Australia Day, with volunteers tidying up local parks, streets, bushland, beaches and waterways.

Popular local spots with organised clean ups include Redcliffe foreshore, Redcliffe Jetty, Pelican Park, Mango Hill, North Lakes and Hays Inlet and there is still time to get involved.

Rotary Club of Redcliffe City have been involved with Clean Up Australia Day for 16 years, each year tackling the area near the Redcliffe Jetty for the tidy up.

Club treasurer Mick Larter encouraged residents to come along and join about 60 volunteers from the club and local schools who meet at Rotary Park and pick up rubbish around the park, north of the park and down past the jetty to Suttons Beach.

We all do a bit, and we make a huge difference to our environment,'' Mick says.We are giving back to the community and making the environment cleaner.''

Mick says the clean-up starts at 8am at the Rotary Park barbeque shelter, with volunteers welcome to stay for a free barbeque lunch afterwards.

Many local schools on the peninsula are getting involved on School Clean Up Day on Friday, March 3.

If you would like to volunteer, find your nearest clean-up site by visiting the website, cleanupaustraliaday.org.au and clicking on 'Join a Clean Up Site'.

Alternatively, if you have found a rubbish hotspot that needs attention, register a new site online or phone 1800 282 329 and get your friends and family involved.

All volunteers are encouraged to wear closed in shoes, gloves, hat, sunscreen and eye protection and carry plenty of water. Rubbish bags will be provided.
