Songs Of Hope: Close The Gap Day
Redcliffe's Community Choir, Multitude Choir will again stage an event for Oxfam's National Close The Gap Day on Thursday 16th March.

For over five years, Multitude has supported Close the Gap Day by sharing their music with the local community. This year, they're inviting everyone to come and have a 'behind the scenes' look at how a choir operates at a family and friends night.

If you've always wanted to sing with a choir, but feel a bit daunted, and don't quite now how or where to start, this will give you an insight into just how easy and fun it can be. Performing in and around the Northern Moreton Bay region and Brisbane for over twelve years, Multitude choir is a non-auditioned group, and all age groups are welcome all you need to bring is a love of music and a desire to share in the joy of singing with like minded people. It's perfectly okay if you don't read music, as we learn by listening and then singing along with what has been conveyed.

Musical Director, Dale Lingwood, will show everyone how a rehearsal operates, where you can even join in singing with us if you wish, or you can sit quietly in the back rows and just take it all in.

To give you an idea of our repertoire, which comprises pop, Broadway, jazz, rock, plus a little gospel and classical, the choir will then showcase some of their favourite songs in a small concert for your enjoyment. If you're not interested in joining the choir, that's okay; Multitude welcomes you to just come along and enjoy the evening.

Afterwards, you'll be warmly invited to share a delicious supper. Entry is by a gold coin donation, and there'll also be raffles.

What is Close the Gap?

Launched in 2007 by Cathy Freeman and Ian Thorpe, Oxfam's Close the Gap aims to redress the gap on health and education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who have some of the poorest health outcomes of any group of people in the world. On average, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders mortality rate is 10'17 years less than other Australians.

The Close the Gap campaign aims to achieve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equality by 2030.

Please come and support this worthwhile event and enjoy a lovely musical evening.
