ROCKABILLY JAZZ FUSION
By Melissa Bailey

Through the silky smooth notes of jazz, punctuated by the substantive twang of rockabilly, Christie-Leigh Dawkins has been rousing crowds Friday nights at the Mon Komo Hotel.

I just love my time [there]. It's a fantastic evening every time,ť Christie-Leigh chimes, who first commanded the stage mic as a child.

I've been teaching singing for 22 years through my business Vocal Effects and at local schools. My main performance genre is Rockabilly Jazz fusion, and I enjoy singing songs that people can tap their feet to and sing along to,ť Christie-Leigh says.

With a string of tertiary certificates, including pursuing her Masters of Music Studies Vocal Pedagogy at the Conservatorium of Music, soloist Christie-Leigh has been delivering soulful vocals built on a lifetime of experience.

From talent competitions, eisteddfods and concerts, she attended the Young Queensland Conservatorium Music School in high school before studying Jazz Singing at the Conservatorium of Music. Christie-Leigh, a Redcliffe local, has spent years collaborating with professional bands and duos, ultimately having her vocals featured in Europe-wide promotions for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Christie-Leigh adds retro flair to easy listening hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s, Jazz and Cabaret, costumed in 1940s pin-up style garb and lively accents. She says Swing is her favourite genre but also enjoys the element of Country embedded in Rockabilly music.

A spirited entertainer for any event, Christie-Leigh's classy and professional performance and vocal versatility shines through a full repertoire of classics, including Jazz, Lounge, Motown, Pop, and Disco.

With high-quality backing tracks, Christie-Leigh delivers must-see entertainment for hotels and bars, corporate events, weddings and engagement parties, trade shows and more.
