Experience Martial Arts in Redcliffe
Redcliffe is blessed with many places to try and practice varying forms of martial arts. Regardless of your level of fitness, size or age, there are plenty of benefits to learning a martial art and plenty of opportunities locally!

One of the benefits of practicing a martial art is increasing exercise and fitness. Practicing a martial art does not mean to learn how to fight, but in fact the opposite, how to defend, among many other things. A true martial artist will learn how to find focus and dedicate themselves to improving their weaknesses. In a practical sense, this means learning how to take a hit, how to block and defend, and even how to fall. In a deeper application, it means gaining self confidence, a greater understanding of self and self respect.

Ju-Jitsu is an excellent way to learn self defence and self confidence. We are family focussed and teach children from the age of three years to build discipline and improve fitness and flexibility, says Local Ju-Jitsu club organiser Suzanne Butler,

Another style of martial art that is vastly underestimated for its ability to maintain fitness and defense is T'ai-Chi. Local T'ai-Chi Chuan teacher Glenn Blythe from the T'ai-Chi School of Gentle Exercise teaches a very traditional style of T'ai-Chi and says that it is a great exercise for joint problems and injuries.

Some people think that T'ai-Chi's movements sped up will allow for self defence, says Blythe, But the main component of T'ai-Chi isn't about speeding up movements. It's about breaking an opponent's root or disrupting their connection to gravity.

Bai Rui Taekwon Do classes, like many martial arts, help improve mental concentration, focus and self control, improve working memory and benefit emotional and psychological health by keeping stress levels under control through the relief of tension, nervousness and frustration. Teachers of the style also see increased flexibility and improved mood, along with increased cardiovascular health and muscle tone.

We ensure that students can learn at their own pace in a safe and supportive environment, says 6th Dan International ITF Taekwon-Do Instructor at the ITF Taekwon-Do school.
